Nano-Power!™ Sequence launches Nanometer RTL-TO-GATE Power Analysis Tool
Clock-gating capabilities and Linux 64-bit port available

SAN DIEGO (Design Automation Conference) June 3, 2004 - Sequence today announced PowerTheater-nm, the next generation of the company´s PowerTheater suite for the analysis of power in large SoC designs.

In today´s nanometer design environment, designers must get an accurate estimation of power as early as possible in the design cycle. PowerTheater-nm includes clock-gating aware power analysis at the RTL level that can predict power savings. Clock-gating technology permits a designer to predict how downstream tools use integrated clock cells to optimize power and when additional optimization will be required to meet critical power budgets. PowerTheater-nm increases the confidence designers have in estimating power, while performing analysis at significantly higher speeds.

PowerTheater-nm is compliant with every significant design language in the marketplace. Support is in place for Verilog2001, the new design language that has seen rapid adoption. PowerTheater-nm is 10X faster processing VHDL designs. The product offers full coverage for VHDL designs, greatly enhancing power estimation accuracy.

"We depend on the mixed abstraction level flow in PowerTheater-Analyst that permits efficient full-chip power estimation," said Mike Young, CAD/IT manager at Analog Devices, Inc., Austin Design Center. Moving to 64-bit Linux greatly improves capacity at all levels of design abstraction. The high performance offered in 64-bit Linux permits designers to perform the power optimizations that are often eliminated in a design cycle due to time-to-market pressures.

"PowerTheater-nm is a quantum advance in terms of facilitating the full range of potential inputs to the tool," said Piyush Sancheti, director of product marketing at Sequence. "As a result of this new generation of the product, our customers see no obstacles to their design migration path. But most importantly the advances in the product offer the greatest accuracy in the marketplace for measuring power in design."

PowerTheater has more than 100 customers worldwide and is the preferred low power design and power analysis tool at the top 10 semiconductor companies worldwide.

Availability

The product is available on the following platforms: Linux 64-bit Itanium and Opteron; Sun Solaris 64-bit. For more information on PowerTheater, click here.

DAC ´04 Demos

PowerTheater will be demonstrated from June 7-10, 2004 in booth 2107 at the Design Automation Conference in the San Diego Convention Center.

NanoCool Initiative

PowerTheater-nm is part of Sequence´s NanoCool™ Initiative. NanoCool is a joint venture among semiconductor designers, EDA tool vendors, IP companies and library suppliers, to provide a complete power integrity flow that includes concurrent power management, timing and signal-integrity capabilities to achieve rapid design closure at 130-nm and below.
