SANTA
CLARA, Calif. - Aug. 29, 2003- Sequence Design formally presented
its first annual Powerhouse Design Award to Tensilica at a
ceremony here today, recognizing the company's contributions
to low-power IC design.
"Companies such as Tensilica recognize that as much as
80 percent of an IC's power budget can now be controlled at
the RT level, and applying power-aware tools and techniques
early speeds the design process and greatly reduces time to
market," said Vic Kulkarni, president and CEO of Sequence
Design. "In an era of sub-1 Volt design, Tensilica's
efforts to reduce power consumption in the early stages of
the design process are exemplary, and we are pleased to recognize
their contributions through this award."
The award was presented to Tensilica's Himanshu Sanghavi,
hardware engineering manager, who calls low-power dissipation
an important design goal of his company. Tensilica allows
designers to customize microprocessor cores, slashing typical
development times.
"Many of our customers are building portable devices
so power is naturally a critical dimension for us," Sanghavi
said. "We are estimating power at the RT Level using
Sequence's PowerTheater, giving us insights into power analysis
much earlier and on a larger number of processor configurations
than was previously possible."

About Tensilica
Tensilica was founded in July 1997 to
address the growing need for optimized, application-specific
microprocessor solutions in high-volume embedded applications.
With a configurable and extensible microprocessor core called
Xtensa, Tensilica is the only company that has automated and
patented the time-consuming process of generating a customized
microprocessor core along with a complete software development
tool environment, producing new configurations in a matter
of hours. For more information, visit .
